Considering entering The Wedding Industry Awards? This is my experience and review of the UK’s biggest Wedding Industry Awards Ceremony!

I’ll be straight, I have never really bought into the idea of Wedding Awards being a Wedding DJ in the industry myself. To say any one wedding supplier, especially a DJ is “The Best” is not really possible. A trendy urban wedding photographer would certainly not be the best if the client wanted a classic country wedding captured. Also so many of the Wedding Award ceremonies on offer were put on exclusively by Wedding Mags who may (possibly…who knows) have a preference to the advertisers (perhaps).

There was one Wedding Award Ceremony that was on my radar which seemed to be different and my interest was sparked. I did my research and decided to enter The Wedding Industry Awards 2016.

My name is Dan and I am a Full Time Specialist Wedding DJ based in Hertford. I truly love what I do and strive to provide the ultimate Wedding Party experience full of energy and atmosphere. Since I made the move from Club to Wedding DJ a few years back I have always been very busy. As I write this in July 2016 I am fully booked for the rest of the year ahead. I wasn’t entering The Wedding Awards primarily to gain more bookings. I am a serial learner and have a real desire to be the best I can. The Wedding Industry Awards as I discovered is far more than a badge to be displayed on a supplier’s website.

By now you can probably tell that I am a Wedding Industry Awards convert :)

I entered the awards and began inviting my amazing clients from the past year to visit my personal page on The Awards Website to vote for me / comment of my service and score me. It’s surprising how your competitive instinct kicks in when you display a “vote for me” sign on your website or social media. Entering the awards certainly energised my efforts to give the best possible experience for couples who had chosen me as their Wedding DJ.

For me it was the way the awards were to be judged that sparked my enthusiasm! Independent feedback from my past years couples was a huge plus point. I have many five star ratings on my website and facebook page however the feedback left by my amazing couples when voting was so much better. Also I liked the scoring system as it sets a benchmark to improve upon for the following year. Add to these points, the quality of the Judging panel which was very high. I love the way each category has different judges who are experts in their field. All of the judges on the Best Wedding DJ panel were great choices. I feel that The Wedding Industry Awards got the balance just right.

I was over the moon to make the regional final at the beautiful Granary Estate in the East of England. The Wedding Industry Awards put on a great evening, there was a real buzz in the room! I never realised how rewarding being in the same room as so so many talented wedding professionals would be. So after cocktails and canapés the ceremony got under way, things were getting serious! Now, it doesn’t matter how cool or calm you claim to be when they announce your category, the mix of excitement and nerves kick in. You wait, silently, hoping the judges call your name.

This year my name was called and I gratefully accepted East Of England Best Wedding DJ “Highly Commended”. I congratulate the winners and highly commended in all the categories, such amazing talent. Truly the best in our region!

To say I was chuffed with the recognition is an understatement. I think that “recognition” is what the Wedding Industry Awards is all about. Being “recognised” for outstanding work and overall service to your couples and also to the Wedding Industry. The organisers do deserve a huge amount of credit for putting on the awards. The reality is that they themselves are doing so much for the Wedding Industry to drive standards up and encourage excellence.

My advice to anyone considering entering The Wedding Industry Awards is simple.

Entering the awards for me has had a positive impact on my business and boosted further my enthusiasm and energy to be the best I can be. The recognition and feedback from couples has given me real drive to improve further into 2017 and over deliver whenever possible. This all has a knock on effect giving my couples an experience far exceeding their expectations, this leads to more 5 star reviews and more bookings.

If you want to take your business to the next level then The Wedding Industry Awards could well help you. Give it a go you have nothing to lose …. I will definitely be back for more in 2017 and looking to improve on this year’s great result :)
