In this post I am going to share with you the reasons why I love being a Wedding DJ at the Gaynes Park Wedding Venue. Also I will offer some tips on how to make your Gaynes Park Wedding extra perfect.
Gaynes Park Wedding DJ
My name is Dan, an award winning specialist Wedding DJ based in Hertford and a regular performer at Gaynes Park. Over the past 5 years I have had the pleasure of performing as the Wedding DJ at 30+ functions. Having got to know the venue and its amazing team. I am well placed to share with you ways you can maximise your wedding reception and avoid possible mistakes along the way.
Gaynes Park is situated in the beautiful Epping countryside and is a popular choice for couples looking to get married in 2020 and beyond. The venue benefits from having two main areas of which both are used perfectly for different parts of the wedding day.
The two main areas are the stunning orangery, where the ceremony takes place. And, the main barn which is used for the wedding breakfast and evening party!
The brilliant thing with having two separate areas is that it means your day can flow without interruptions. While the ceremony is taking place the barn can be prepped for the meal. Then, after the speeches guests can return to the orangery while the barn is transformed for the evening party. This luxury eliminates any awkward moments. In some venues guests will have to stay in the room while the staff clear away tables, DJ sets up, photo booths built….not at Gaynes Park, they have this covered 🙂
TIP: I would recommend having your DJ arrive midway through the wedding breakfast (meal). The main barn has its own separate area for the evening party away and out of sight from dining guests. Your DJ should unload while guests are eating then remove their van out of sight. Personally, I stop the set up during the speeches to ensure silence. Then after the speeches are finished the DJ will usually have around 45 minuets to finish setting up ahead of the cake cutting and first dance.
The Barn & Dancing Area
As a Gaynes Park Wedding DJ the main barn is where I spend my time while performing at weddings. Its an amazing barn and easily one of the nicest in the county. I wont say much more about the barn, its hard to describe just how lovely it is. I would recommend arranging a viewing, go see for yourself what the fuss is about 🙂
At the side of the barn is the dancing area where your DJ will be set up. This little area is perfect for a party and can be transformed for the evening into a great party space.
TIP: To really transform the dancing area I like to use Up Lighting to tie the room in with the wedding colour scheme. The white walls really work against the lighting to give the room a glow for the evening and add extra WOW. (I always include up lighting FREE of charge with my packages when booked as a Gaynes Park Wedding DJ)
Another great addition for guaranteed “oohs” is a set of LOVE lights or perhaps a MR & MRS to the side, or in front of the DJ Booth.
House Rules for DJ's & Bands
It’s important that your evening entertainment understand that Gaynes Park have strict rules when it comes to DJ / Band positioning and music volume levels. These rules should be seen as a GOOD thing, any performer who dose’nt accept the reasons they are in place should really consider a change in carrer (in my opinion). These days many venues have restrictions on volume. Gaynes Park uses a sound limiter to ensure that music levels do not reach a level which may jepodise its music licence going forward. Music limiters are the responsible thing to do and a good performer will understand the reasons why. I would say that the music on the dance floor is plenty loud and the sound limiting device is not a problem at all.
TIP: Ask your potential DJ’s / Band’s how they work alongside sound limiters. If they groan and make a fuss move onto the next. This sounds harsh but trust me the real professionals wont have a problem.

This little room can really pack a punch when it comes to atmosphere and energy. I thought I would share this little 2019 clip with you to prove that you shouldn’t worry about the sound limitations or that the party area is to the side of the main barn. This is a fantastic space and its size maximises the excitement and emotion of the evening.
Reasons I am a BIG fan!
Gaynes Park has so many plus points! With its separate spaces making your timeline a dream. Its perfect country setting and stunning outside spaces. Food to die for (the evening pizza oven is divine). Lots and lots of reasons to check this gem of a venue out!
Lastly I want to thank Natasha and the wedding team at Gaynes Park for always providing a warm welcome when I arrive to DJ. Its clear to see that all the staff here really enjoy their work. Where as some venues can feel a little mechanical this can’t be said for Gaynes Park and the team always have a smile for guests (and suppliers).
